We have been working to deliver better Wifi for your Cook Strait crossing.
Technically it isn't easy to deliver a stable service with good speeds throughout the journey between Picton and Wellington and back. You will notice that your mobile phone doesn't work in some parts of the sailing.
We are use a mix of mobile data and satellite services which is expensive but does give much better coverage.
The service allows you to update your social media, check emails and browse the latest news. We do recommend if you want to watch a movie or your favourite TV programme that you download it before you come onboard.
500 MB for free
Every person travelling on Interislander gets 500MB data for free. You can start accessing this from the terminal and walk onboard.
If you need more you can purchase a Gig for $5.
To access the wifi
Go to "Wifi" options in the Settings on your device.
- Find "Passenger" network and select.
- You will be asked for an email address and to set up a password. This information remains confidential and we do not use for marketing purposes.
- You should be good to go.
- When you have used your free allowance you will be asked if you what to purchase additional data. Select yes and follow the instructions to enter your credit card.
